Christina Varvis is a photographer based in her hometown of Edmonton, Alberta.

She is a graduate of Photographic Technology at NAIT and former photo editor at The Gateway. Her work concentrates on the overlooked and unpopular aesthetics of day-to-day street scenes in Edmonton’s undervalued neighbourhoods and celebrates the character found within these endangered landscapes. When she is feeling extra creative, she further enjoys dabbling in conceptual photography.

What she loves about photography is how it encourages her to really notice her surroundings, even when she is just walking home from her bus stop. It prompts her to appreciate her city more and more by exploring and admiring the character in everyone and everything. What she loves most about this craft, however, are the people it connects her to. For them, she is always grateful because every single person has given her inspiration, support, knowledge, and memories that help her get out of bed in the morning (along with her six alarms).

When she is not looking through her camera, she can be found hitting the snooze button, reliving her mall rat days, or inhaling lattes at Credo.
