Throughout my time at NAIT, all of my instructors made a point reminding students to value community over competition, and they can't have been more right in doing so.
It's true that photographers here in Edmonton don't talk enough about each other and their work. Sure, there are the couple of Instagram accounts that feature Edmonton photographers, but beyond the tag, they don't say much about the person behind the camera or the intent, value, and extent of their work. The more we talk about the photographers in Edmonton and share their talents and passion, the stronger the community becomes. Just as much, it will hopefully enlighten people to better respect the profession, and recognize photography as an ever-serious and humble form of communication, empathy, introspection, preservation, and imagination.
I love the idea of supporting and celebrating the photography community here in Edmonton, which is why I want to share with you the photographers who have helped me, inspired me, and quite literally brought me to the place in my life that I find myself in today. I am truly happy and proud to know them, and to showcase their individuality and photography with you here on this page.
